[REVIEW] :: The Girl is In Trouble Movie Review (2015)

A film with a few twists but not too may surprises, the plot of the titled distressed damsel, brings about unexpected drama, death and a question of true identity.

Following his previous role on Scandal, Columbus Short returns to your screen starring in the murder mystery, The Girl is in Trouble, alongside Wilmer Valderrama, Jesse Spencer, and Alicja Bachleda.

The film, available in theaters and on demand April 3, 2015, is about August, a struggling, Lower East Side DJ (played by Short) who becomes engulfed in a fall out from a murder of a missing drug dealer. He is contacted in the middle of the night by Signe (played by Bachleda) for what seems to be a nightcap that turns into a journey for her safety after he stumbles upon a video of the murder committed by Nicholas in her phone.

Nicholas (played by Spencer) is the son of a financial-sector mogul, giving him access to power and wealth but he has a true drug problem. With his access he tries to cover up the murder until August confronts him with evidence and demands a pay off for the silence. The plot connects Nicholas and August in many instances, creating interesting twists that adheres all the characters together in a small cohort.

With a sequence of run ins with the drug dealers, family, the small circle of people they hung around August and Signe are quickly confronted to where the true story behind the murder becomes unveiled.
